Snowed IN!

So after my post yesterday I headed out to try some shopping, I made it out to two stores and the got to the third and it was closed! Wahhh…the snow really didn’t come and hit us until after 11pm yesterday because when we woke up this is what it looked liked…please enjoy these snowy pictures!

These are all taken out of our hotel window, we haven’t gone out yet because we still have a blizzard warning until 7pm and nothing is open! We aren’t even sure what we are going to do for lunch! Ahhh!

Anyways, after shopping yesterday I met Chris for lunch at Amatos, my favorite sub restaurant! I got a small original italian.

We hung around the room until about 5pm yesterday and then headed out to a local Mexican restaurant…it was okay but I like the ones in our town better… it was lacking flavor for sure! After dinner we went to the grocery store because obviously if a blizzard is coming you need to have ice cream on hand! We bought Ben and Jerry’s Strawberry Cheesecake! It definintely made up for the fact that dinner was sub par! Also, we got two cookies at the front lobby! And hot chocolate because the hotel has a hot bar all the time!

This morning we woke up to 2 feet of snow and still snowing! We hit up the hotels breakfast buffet and have literally just been staying warm in our room until we decide to venture out! What I think is awesome is that the hotel gave all of their staff member and families rooms for the night so that the staff could actually be here for work today!
Here is breakfast from today, french toast sticks, bagel sandwich, fruit salad, maple sausage! Yum!

Did you get snow today?
Hows the weather where you are?

Where have I been?! Don’t forget about the giveaway!

Sorry I haven’t been around for a few days! Tuesday and Wednesday I had to wake up at 5AM to watch this little cutie!

He truly is one of the most fun and cute one year olds I have had the pleasure of entertaining! He is Chris’ godson and his Mama works early and Dad works overnights so they needed someone to watch him for a couple hours! He slept most of the time but when he did wake up he was too cute!
So I have been extra tired by the time I get out of work so I really have just grabbed my book The Secret Keeper and read it until my eyes were too heavy to keep open! I finished the book last night and am going to start writing my book review for Peanut Butter Finger book review! If you haven’t read this book I highly recommend it! I couldn’t have predicted what was going to happen in the last chapter! I had to re-read the last chapter to make sure I understood what was going on! This is a winner!

Here are a few pictures of things I have been eating over the past few days!

Lots of yummies! Although I only worked a four day work week I am very happy that today is my Friday! I feel like I have been going non stop this week and I need a break! On Tuesday I went and looked at another house and I love this one but the price is at the top of our budget and we Wally wouldn’t have too much of a backyard which is hard for because because I grew up in the middle of nowhere with hardly any neighbors! This neighborhood is highly residential!

In other news a friend of mine told me that she is pregnant again and I am so happy for her! It’s such an exciting time! Although Chris and I aren’t getting married for another year and a half I couldn’t picture myself having children right now so I am happy that my friends are so I get to spend time with their kids!

This morning I slept in because I needed a little extra rest! Remember a few days ago when it was only 3 degrees? Ya well today and yesterday temperatures reach about 60 degrees…oh New England! I headed right to the gym after I woke up and did an awesome running workout!

We have a few more days left for the Jamberry Nail giveaway so make sure you get those entries in! Read about the giveaway here!

Rejuvenating your workout!

After I got out of work last night I was thinking some retail therapy would help rejuvenate my workouts! I stopped by Marshall’s because I received a few hundred dollars in gift cards because everyone knows how much I like the TJX chain! I worked at TJ’s during my college years! I got so many good deals working there for 3 years! Any who, I bought a new running shirt that has thumb holes and cute ruffles on the shoulder (that was the selling point..haha) and a pair of running pants that are actually going to stay up! I jumped up and down in the dressing room to make sure! I also got an armband for my iPhone because that way I don’t have to worry about losing or it falling off the treadmill!

And, the best part is all of this only cost under $35!! Can anyone tell me what the cut outs on the pants are for though lol!

I didn’t have much time to eat breakfast this morning because I was meeting with our realtor to tour a house and well…. The house was a flop!
I had a glass of milk and a blueberry belvita for breakfast! If you haven’t tried belvita do yourself a favor because these are delicious!

So this is what the house looks like in the pictures…remember don’t judge a book by its cover because…

Chances are it could be what you expect..or NOT! This house looks so beautiful in the pictures but when I went in it felt and looks like a totally different house! I spent no more than 5 minutes in the house but I knew positively that this was not the house for us! Too much work for people who work full time and are on a budget!

Also, I’m working in collaboration with someone to give you guys, my readers, an awesome giveaway!! I’m so excited, so if you are a fan of nail polish or nail stickers please keep following my blog! As soon as I receive my sample I will be posting about the giveaway! ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you feel like buying new work out clothes rejuvenates your workout?
Where is your favorite place to buy work out clothes?

Warmth! …just kidding!

This morning was so nice and warm outside…. Oh no just kidding, that’s what I wish it was! Anyways…it was 0.5 degrees when I headed to the gym! Yup that’s right a whole half degree! I thought my eye lids were going to freeze open!

At least I can say it don’t stop me from going to the gym! On today’s agenda for working out was running/ walking. I can feel myself getting more tolerant of running longer even if the running portion is only for 3 minute increments with walking in between. Honestly back at the beginning of January I probably wouldn’t have succeeded in running more than a minute at a time!

This ended up being 2.10 miles! So I felt pretty good about it after I was done! Can’t wait to reach my final week 10 workout and see how far I have come!

Once I got back to my apartment I cleaned the kitchen that I have been ignoring for the past few days and made breakfast!

One egg, three pieces of bacon (I ate one before the picture because it just looked so darn good!), and I was out of bread so I cut a pita in half and toasted it with butter on top! For a drink I had a bolt house farms mocha cappuccino shake! I hate coffee but this tastes like melted coffee ice cream which is my favorite! And it had lost of protein!

Last night Chris and I logged onto our realtors site and narrowed down some of the houses at we’re in our cart…we find some of the most beautiful and perfect houses and then look at the location and it is right next to a highway or on a river…ugh! We WILL find our dream home but I’m so sick of looking already! Hahah

Check back later for a post about Bzzagent, a product testing site that I’m a part of! Its a lot of fun and you get to try great products for free!

We aren’t perfect.

Soooo… Chris and I definitely are far from perfect… Last night we had a huge fight.. About nonsense of course because that’s how it usually goes. It was so bad that he slept on the couch. We are fine now… Actually we played it off like nothing happened after we woke up which made me feel good because that way it really shows we fought for no reason! We bicker back and forth from time to time and always realize about half way through that it was totally pointless! Any-who, were all better now! We had an awesomely productive day!

We started our morning off with bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches and then headed right over to our realtors office. She’s a wonderful woman and has kids our age so she knows what we are looking for! That meeting lasted about an hour and then it was on to lunch.

We went to this awesome sandwich shop that we love about a half hour away because we had to meet with our mortgage broker later in the day. I got an amazing low sodium ham and swiss sandwich with all the veggies.

It doesn’t look as good as it tastes but it was amazing! ๐Ÿ™‚

Next up we met with our mortgage broker, also a wonderful woman who got us a great deal! We got approved for way more than we thought we would and way more than we need which was great because that allows us plenty of play room in case we find a house that’s pricey that we can’t live without!

After that we went and picked up my library book for Julie’s book review over at PBFingers!

It was a busy day and I still have a lot to do and unfortunately have to work six days in a row starting tomorrow! It’s going to be a fun week! Starting with a double workout tomorrow morning at 8am!

Home buying nerves!

Last night Chris and I didn’t really feel too much like cooking but he had some portabella mushrooms marinating in balsamic and garlic so we decided to have burgers! Instead of meat we just use the mushrooms as the “meat” …served with Trader Joes havarti, lettuce, tomato, and onion! They are quite delicious…if you haven’t tried them I definitely recommend it!

I forgot to take a picture but if you can imagine it, it was piled high with veggies!

Yesterday’s lunch was good and filling and didn’t require a lot of though… A slice of bread with laughing cow cheese (blue cheese flavor) and topped with tomatoes! I took a bite before the picture because I just couldn’t wait ๐Ÿ˜‰

Chris and I have been in contact with our realtor and told her everything we want/ don’t want in a house… We have also been in contact with our mortgage broker to find out what we can really afford…the nerves are starting to hit me that we ARE buying a house! I’m excited and nervous all at the same time! I just want to get what we really want and I don’t want to settle! If we can’t find anything by the end of our lease everything is going into storage and we are going to stay with his parents… We just don’t see any sense in extending our lease because they charge us an arm and a leg to live here…in these so called “luxury” apartments!

In better news, I get out of work today at 5!!!! I can’t believe it! I never get to leave that early! ๐Ÿ™‚

Any advice for a first time home buyer?!
What do you do to calm you nerves?

Today I headed right to eye gym after Chris woke me up with a phone call…funny thing is I always tell him I was awake even if I wasn’t! He leaves for work at 5 and typically I don’t have to work until mid morning or early afternoon! There was only one other person in the gym when I got there which is what I prefer! Today was a running day and boy did it feel good…

I can’t wait until the workouts get a little harder than I will be able to tell if this plan is working or not!

After the gym I came back to the apartment and after reading some blog entries this morning of fellow bloggers I had some inspiration for breakfast…Julie over at PBFingers had made a delicious breakfast so I used what I had on hand and made something similar! Scrambled eggs, sautรฉed kale, and chipotle chicken sausage! My favorite! It was very filling and delicious! This is actually the first time I have cooked with kale, I picked some up at Trader Joes this past weekend!

Inspirations are around us every day…the two people in my life that are truly inspirational are my older brother and my dad! My dad suffered a MINOR heart attack a few years ago (I’m talking minor… He fainted and then had tests done later on that showed his heart had fixed itself) and my brother then, 320lbs took that as a wake up call to get healthy. Only a year later my brother had dropped 160lbs and is now running half marathons! It’s truly inspiring! My father took my brother as inspiration and got back into rock climbing and ice climbing…things he gave up when we were just babies! My dad has dropped 40lbs and is healthier than ever!

20130114-110658.jpg this is a picture of my brother taken only a year after each other! He truly is amazing! I keep telling him he needs to write a book!

My dad sent me this picture of him and a group of his friends that had climbed Mt. Isolation, NH…14 mile trip!

Where do you find inspiration to keep going?

The task of choosing a wedding band…

Today started bright and early with Chris and I hitting our snooze button about 10 times before one of us decided that if we were going to do anything productive that we better roll ourselves out of bed and do it! We had a laundry list of chores and errands that we needed to get done so we made our way about a half hour from home to the amazing jeweler that Chris bought my engagement ring from! I so desperately wanted to get it cleaned along with the Tiffany bracelet so we dropped both off to be cleaned and polished and then made our way to a couple of other stores.

This is us goofing off at Five Below…I don’t know what it is about people and mustaches lately but it sure is funny! They are on everything!

We also took a trip to Old Navy because all there active wear is on sale until the 16th… Thanks to a couple fellow bloggers … Fitnessista and Peanut Butter Fingers.. I picked up some really cute gear for $33!

20130112-163620.jpg… As I write this I’m actually getting ready for the gym so I’m going to wear one of my new tops and see how it works out!

After we meandered around a few shops it was time to go grab my ring! I couldn’t wait to see how sparkly it was! And boy was it! No scratches or anything! These people do amazing work! Chris and I also wanted to check out wedding bands as well so I’m having quite a hard decision in choosing which style…honestly they are so similar that it is MINOR details…usually I’m not so indecisive but for some reason I am today… Let me know if you can tell the difference between the right or the left band… Which do you like better?!

20130112-163936.jpg … I just put them on my finger like that so I could send a picture to my mom of both!

After ring shopping we stopped at Chipotle…my favorite restaurant everrrrr! We both got delicious bowls! After we hopped over to Trader Joes! I wish we had one closer because I would go so much more often! Of course it was free sample day so we tried almonds, cheese and beer cheese dip with frito like chips…all delicious of course! We got so many great things I can’t wait to try them all!

Onto the gym! See ya later for dinner ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you ever been indecisive about the smallest detail?
What is your favorite healthy food store?
Have you check out old navy’s active wear?!

Long eventful day!

Wow! Today went quick which stinks because it’s my day off! We started our errands at CVS where I picked up a rocking deal on treseme shampoo! I got nine bottles for .17ยข a bottle! Each bottle was on sale for $3.33 each and they all had $1.75 coupons on them! If you haven’t shopped at CVS they have this machine called the magic coupon machine…so I scanned my card and out popped a $2.50 off $12 shampoo purchase! Plus I had $2 extra care buck (cvs rewards program) so …i am totally stocked up on shampoo for a while! I hadn’t even planned on picking anything up and I normally shop with coupons but had not brought any with me this time!

After CVS we headed over to the dollar tree because they have bubble wrap and we needed to ship something out I also wanted to look for more books even though I have a huge stack from last time… I did pick up two that look really good!

The dollar tree also had Planters Nutrition peanut butter and I have heard great things about it but never tried it myself! It’s banana nut flavor…sounds yummy!

We were in the area of a great whole foods market…not the chain just a local store…we purchased our Christmas tree from them this year and wanted to go back and buy some groceries..

We bought some agave syrup, two maple yogurts…I didn’t even know these existed and am so happy to have found them, pickles….can’t go anywhere without buying a jar of pickles, and pistachios…already peeled! These babies were our snack on the way to the grocery store..

Onto grocery shopping and $150 later…yikes!! But some really awesome meals planned this week! In fact I have potato corn chowder on the stove right now! Bolt house farms drinks have become a staple to our grocery shopping ritual! These things are delicious if you haven’t tried them…go get one!!!

We came home and had a veryyyyyy late lunch …around 4PM but it was delicious…it was a quick fix and very unplanned…we had purchased some naan bread and decided to make personal pizzas.. Here are the pizzas before they went into the oven… Mushroom, onion, and mozarella

And the final result …

We headed out again for a quick trip to get our library cards finally!!!! And visit a friend of ours and Chris’ godson! He is the cutest but he has a double ear infection so he was very clingy to mommy tonight…poor baby!

Once we got home Chris headed over to the club house to run and I stayed in the apartment to do my push ups and sit ups … Today’s workout looked like this…

All in all a very eventful day and tomorrow is the same! Going to eat potato corn chowdaaaa …recipe to follow!

Have you had any nonstop days lately?!
How often do you use your library card?

Going back to childhood

This morning I really didn’t feel like cooking breakfast so I went to the cabinet and grabbed a flash from my childhood…cinnamon toast crunch! Yum!

We woke up very late this morning and are finally getting the ball rolling on our “laundry list” of things to do today… We always make a hue list of things we need to do so we only end up making one trip out. I have some excellent meals planned for this week though I can’t wait to share!

Do you ever go back to your favorite childhood cereal even if it is extra sugary?!
Do you have a laundry list of things to do this weekend?
